Craig and I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last night. It had pros and cons. I guess I'm just used to the original with Gene Wilder. Johnny Depp is excellent in any role, but his Willy Wonka was a bit too neurotic at times. Gene Wilder was delightfully sarcastic and confident. What I need to do is read the book to decide which was the most accurate.

I did get that dress from Torrid to wear to Moo's wedding. They had a gorgeous embroidered corset, but it was obviously inappropriate for a wedding. Where would you wear such a thing? I wouldn't pay all that money just to look cute in the house!

I've heard the new one is more accurate to the book. From what I gather (commercials and previews), it certainly looks that way. They have the 'squirrel' scene in the new one, which they never had in the first movie.

As much as I love the original movie, they really took their own take on the book and warped so it was a little too "Hollywood". The book has so many facets to it, on so many different levels. Dahl was a great author. I wonder if they'll come out with "The Great Glass Elevator" movie now?
